The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Akinloye Bankole, has alleged that Governor Dapo Abiodun was involved in vote buying during the 2023 governorship election.
Bankole made the claim during an interview with Punch.
He alleged that Abiodun gave market women ₦5,000 each and begged them to vote for him.
He stated that they had produced the voucher which was used as evidence at the Tribunal.
The PDP leader alleged that the APC could not mount a defense when they reported vote buying to the Tribunal.
According to him: “You keep mentioning the APC; they are not serious parties to talk about. The governor went to the market and was busy sharing N5,000 with market women and asking them to vote for him publicly, which we also presented in evidence at the tribunal.

“We presented the voucher that was used, with the APC color and photo of Dapo Abiodun and his full name. In an attempt to buy their votes, they gave people money before and during the elections. They couldn't defend it when we raised it at the tribunal. We have not indulged in vote buying; everyone knows that.”
