Akeredolu: 'Ondo State is already the butt of every joke' – PDP

The Ondo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as overdue the decision of ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to hand over power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

However, in an interview with PUNCH, the Publicity Secretary of the Ondo PDP, Kennedy Peretei, said Ondo State has stagnated in the past six months due to Akeredolu's ill health.

Peretie wondered why Akeredolu had to wait so long before returning to Germany for follow-up medical treatment.

He also urged Aiyedatiwa to take action and move the state forward as it has become an object of ridicule.

He said: “Akeredolu's medical holiday is long overdue. I don't know why they waited so long to do this. Ondo State is already the butt of every joke. Let us pray that at least there will be movement in the state instead of the stagnation we have seen in the last six months.”

Aiyedatiwa did not suspend Akeredolu's head of protocol and freeze local government accounts

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Government has denied media reports that the Acting Governor of the state, Lucky Ayedatiwa, has frozen the bank accounts of Local Accounting Boards in the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Guidance, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Akure, the state capital.
