Funeral arrangements for the Iyalode of Yorubaland, Alaba Lawson, have been announced by her family.
The news was presented by Gistlover, stating the entrepreneur and educator passed away on the 8th of October, 2023 at a ripe age of 72.
Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji, media aide to the late Lawson, communicated to the news media that a meet-and-greet would take place on a Sunday, followed by the funeral service on the 8th of December at the St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Moreover, a song service is planned for December 7, to be held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.
Additionally, Kayode-Adedeji unveiled that a preparatory committee has been put in place to streamline the events for Lawson’s burial, who drew her last breath on October 28.
The executive team for the funeral preparations is led by Sanya Abiola, with other members encompassing Tayo Akintayo, Sesan Bankole, and Akin Jiboku, as he noted.
Music icon Ebenezer Obe-Fabiyi will preside over the family meeting along with other members of the Central Planning Committee, Akinola Lawson, Babalola Lawson, Oreoluwa Obey-Fabiyi, and Taiwo Jiboku.
He pointed out that the funeral schedule proposed by the committee will commence on December 1 and conclude on December 6, tailoring events for different groups, associations, and professional bodies to commemorate the late Lawson.
The statement further noted, on December 7, a service filled with songs will be held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, followed by the memorial service on December 8 at St. James African Church, Idi-Ape, Abeokuta, Ogun State. This will be strictly overseen by the kin of the departed.
