Bandit arrests retired director delivering ransom in Kaduna

In Kaduna, bandits have kidnapped a retired director while seeking ransom for the release of a victim.

This was revealed this morning, January 16, by Senator Shehu Sani on his X account. He stated that the retired director offered to assist in paying ransom to the kidnappers who enslaved their victims in Birnin Gwari State of Kaduna.

The senator claims that the outgoing director has not yet been released after three days.

His message reads;

''A retired school principal who volunteered to supply ransom to the kidnappers to secure the release of a victim has also been detained by the kidnappers in Birnin Gwari LG, Kaduna State. He has been in captivity for three days now, the kidnappers have called his family for his ransom.”

Meanwhile, Oladosu Folorunso Ariyo, a Nigerian lawyer, has described how kidnappers wearing military camouflage took his wife and their four children and killed his 13-year-old daughter when they refused to pay a N60 million ransom.

This was disclosed by Mr Ariyo, a native of Ekiti State and alumni of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), in a panicked message to his colleagues in their WhatsApp group, pleading for the assistance of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

According to LIB, on January 7, 2024, gunmen broke into Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse axis of Abuja estate and abducted the victims.

The kidnappers demanded a ransom of N60 million. One of the children, Michelle, was killed after they failed to obtain the necessary funds and her body was disposed of at Ida, close to Ushafa, in Bwari Area Council.

If Ariyo does not pay the ransom, the kidnappers, in his words, threaten to kill both his wife and the three children he has left.

This is what he wrote in the WhatsApp group:

“Dear Seniors and Colleagues, With all due respect, I am Oladosu Folorunso Ariyo, a lawyer practicing in Abuja. On Sunday evening, January 7, 2024, at around 7:30 pm, a gang of kidnappers dressed in full military camouflage invaded my house at Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse, Abuja,” the report read.

“They kidnapped my wife (who is also a lawyer) and our four children. The kidnappers called and demanded N60 million ransom, of which through generous donations from friends and family, I was able to raise the sum of N7 million naira, which they have vehemently refused to collect.

“Today they killed my first born, Michelle Ariyo (13 years) and dumped her corpse on Kaduna road while threatening to kill my three remaining children (all minors) and my wife who are still in captivity murder. Please, please sir, I desperately need the NBA's intervention.”
