Neo Akpofure, alias Neo Energy and previous participant on the popular show Big Brother Naija, has helped the inmates in his home city of Warri through hefty contributions.
Neo Akpofure created quite a stir by making donations for the welfare of inmates in Warri, a city in Delta State.
The star of reality television, who spent substantial parts of his childhood in prison owing to his mother being a prison officer, thought it important to give something back to the community during his time there in Warri.
In a photo shared on Instagram, he posed alongside the director and other staff members, outside the prison.
They stood before a collection of boxes carrying necessities and goods for the inmates.
Moreover, Neo indicated his fondness for aiding prisoners in rebuilding their lives, asserting that fostering human rights for prisoners was the primary force behind the establishment of his Amakazat Foundation.
“I wouldn’t have visited Warri without paying a visit to the Nigerian Correctional Service again. Being brought up within prison confines due to my mother’s job as a guard, I’ve developed empathy for some of these inmates, particularly after hearing about their struggles with life.”
“This is the kind of project I am committed and driven about. One of the fundamental pursuits of the @amakazat_ foundation, initiated by me, is to maintain hope even within prison walls, and ensure that prisons and correctional facilities in Nigeria fulfill their role as rehabilitation centers. In our attempt to meet this goal, we are striving to provide these prisoners with a humane living environment during their custody until they merge back into the community.”
