BREAKING: Aiyedatiwa officially assumes the position of acting governor

Lucky Aiyedatiwa has taken over as interim governor of Ondo State.

According to The Nation, this phenomenon was noticed shortly after Aiyedatiwa arrived in Akure, the state capital.

On Wednesday, December 13, Gistlover also reported that he was received by Ifedayo Abegunde, a former secretary of the state administration, and his allies.

Recall that the state House of Assembly confirmed Aiyedatiwa as acting governor in response to a letter from Governor Rotimi Akeredolu informing members that he was taking another round of medical leave.

According to Chairman Olamide Oladiji, the governor's decision was in accordance with Article 190 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Aiyedatiwa would take over as governor in an acting capacity until a formal declaration to the contrary was made, Akeredolu informed the Ondo Assembly.

The statement came after the assembly received a letter from Governor Akeredolu on the transfer of power.

He added that the furlough would come into effect on Wednesday, December 13. Aiyedatiwa's supporters celebrated the news on social media.
