Court of Appeal confirms the election of Abiodun as Governor of Ogun

In a divided ruling, the Lagos division of the Court of Appeal ruled in favor of Prins on Friday Dapo Abioduns re-election as legitimate Governor of Ogun State on March 18, 2023.

The ruling read by Justice Joseph Shagbaor Ikyegh detailed that the majority ruling dismissed the appeal filed by candidate Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 governorship election.

On the other hand, the appeal in the minority ruling was granted by Justice Jane Esienanwan Inyang, who also directed that fresh elections be held by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) within ninety days.

In a ruling on Friday, a three-member panel of judges dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Isa Ashiru, against Governor Sani's election victory.

The Court of Appeal ruled that the tribunal acted wrongly when it relied on inadmissible evidence to order the conduct of additional polls in 22 polling stations of four local government areas (LGAs) where the exercise was deemed inconclusive.
