Abba Yusuf, the Governor of Kano State, has reached out to the Abuja-based Court of Appeal for a halt on the decision his termination from office by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.
On September 20, the tribunal dismissed 165,663 votes that were in favor of Yusuf, thus overturning his election.
The tribunal ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission did not authorize or endorse the votes, thereby announcing Nasiru Gawuna, the representative of the All Progressives Congress, as the victor of the gubernatorial election.
Dissatisfied with the decision, Yusuf appealed against the tribunal’s verdict, urging the court to reject it.
