Godwin Emefiele, the ex-Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank (CBN), has been to a High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Maitama, to attend his bail plea hearing.
Emefiele has been under the care of security units for over 149 days and appeared before the court due to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) charge.
Emefiele, dressed in native attire in yellow and a cap, was guided into the court room by several EFCC officials in the afternoon, around 12.30pm.
Judge Olukayode Adeniyi, on November 2, made a decision on a unilateral complaint submitted by Emefiele and commanded the EFCC to either free him without restrictions or have him appear on November 6 so that the judge could approve his bail.
Judge Adeniyi emphasized this order on November 6 when the case was presented, however the EFCC failed to release him or bring him to court.
At the moment, the courtroom is crowded as everyone waits for the judge’s arrival and the initial start of the hearings.
