President Bola Tinubu revealed that he contacts Muhammadu Buhari from time to time. He also commended Buhari for keeping his vow not to interfere with his government and visited his farm in Daura, Katsina State.
President Bola Tinubu has disclosed that he has occasionally contacted his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, after leaving office in 2023.
He made this known on Tuesday during the launch of Femi Adesina's book 'Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023)'.
Tinubu revealed that he is contacting the former president to see if he is alive and well and working on his farm in Daura, Katsina State.
During his remarks, Tinubu also commended Buhari for keeping his vow not to interfere in the way he runs his government.
He said; “When I call him (on the phone) to say, 'Are you alive? Are you going to the farm?' you don't hear from him (Buhari), neither to nominate, nor to penetrate the cabinet, nor to complain on issues. Thank you for being who you are.”
He said Buhari seceded from his government on May 29, 2023 and returned to his hometown when he handed over power.
According to President Tinubu: “After the handover, you (Buhari) said, 'I will be far away in Daura, but if you need me, contact me.' I won't interfere with anything you do. I won't interfere. I'm not breathing down your throat. We work together to ensure democracy flourishes in Nigeria.”
