Veteran Nigerian singer/actor, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has opened up about challenges in quitting smoking.
The entertainer said he is careful about his health and often goes to the gym to stay fit, noting that his parents and grandparents lived long lives.
The maverick singer admitted that he drinks a little alcoholic wine, but insisted he is not a regular drinker.
Charly Boy said he also tried to quit smoking but often struggled with the addiction, adding that the longest time he didn't smoke was about seven years.
He said: “I was lucky enough to develop the habit of always going to the gym and taking care of my physical well-being. You know, there's a lot of speculation about people in the (entertainment) industry. But I don't drink. I have never drank (alcohol) in my life. Only sometimes you add a little wine when I feel like socializing (laughs).
“I'm trying to give up my nicotine (smoking) habit. Because it's really not good for me. I think the longest I abstained was about seven years. I've argued back and forth with it. Sometimes I give up, then I come back.”
