I stopped going to church because of what my pastor did during my divorce – Daddy Freeze

Popular On Air personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, has opened up about why he stopped going to church.

According to the media personality, he stopped going to church after his pastor banned him from sitting in the front row following his divorce proceedings.

Freeze stated this on the latest episode of the Teju Babyface Deep Dive podcast.

He said the pastor of the church he attended asked him to take a backseat during his 2014 divorce.

The OAP disclosed that he was a church worker before his divorce and also very active in the organization.

He said he decided to stop going to church instead of hiding in the backseat.

The media personality said he started studying and researching the scriptures on Sunday, which led him to discover that most of the things Nigerian churches were preaching were “flawed.”

Daddy Freeze said: “My marriage had always been problematic and it ended in 2014. And I remember doing events at my church. The pastor at the time paid me for events that I celebrated. At least the pastor didn’t eat all the money, he shared it with the people who were working.

“I was booked for an event I used to do for church, and I got a call saying I had to cancel it due to my divorce or upcoming divorce drama. And I thought, ‘Because I’m going through a divorce, does that distance God from me?’ I wondered that too.

“Then the pastor came to my house and we had a conversation. He said, “I’m not saying don’t come to church, but if you come to church, sit in the back.” And I thought: what is all this? That’s why I was at home on Sunday. Isn’t it better that I sit at home instead of going to church and hiding?
