The Lagos State Court of Appeal has confirmed the election of the Honorable Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a ruling on Tuesday, the three-member judges declared Erhiatake the winner of the Ethiopian federal constituency elections, which were held on February 25, 2023.
The court also dismissed the petition of Ben Rolands Igbakpa of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Halims Ahoda of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The appellate court held that the PDP candidate’s appeal was meritorious and allowed the same, setting aside the lower court’s ruling.
Reacting to the ruling, Ibori-Suenu in a press statement issued on Tuesday described the appeal court ruling as a victory for God and her constituents.
She praised the appeal court’s decision and said democracy endures.
