In the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, the presidential aspirant representing the Labor Party (LP), argues that the citizens of Imo State are entitled to superior governance than what is currently in place.
At Senator Athan Achonu’s final governorship campaign rally at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Complex in Owerri, Obi made this declaration to his followers on Tuesday.
The ex-governor of Anambra State encouraged the populace of Imo to stay vigilant, protect their ballots, and ensure their vote for Achonu, the party’s gubernatorial nominee in the forthcoming November 11 Imo governorship election.
The LP front-runner expressed his concern over the prevailing economic hardships, increasing inflation, and precarious security situation in the state and nation, arguing that the party is capable of steering the state in a positive direction.
According to him, the term of President Bola Tinubu has brought minimal relief to the struggling Nigerians. Therefore, he urged the state’s residents to give the APC government a wakeup call on Saturday by casting their votes for the LP nominee and safeguarding their choice.
Achonu further promised that, if granted the governor’s seat, he would address insecurity issues, pave way for employment opportunities for the jobless youth, and foster the autonomy of local governments.
