Scholarship Awarded to KNUST Medical Student Sampson Dabanyi Who Excels in WASSCE with 8As

Medical student Sampson Dabanyi, at Kwame Nkrumah University Science and Technology (KNUST), has been granted a comprehensive scholarship to cover his tuition costs.

Chairman and CEO of Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited, a Shandong Gold Group Limited subsidiary, Zhenjiang Tang, has generously supported Dabanyi’s goal to become a doctor.

An Intellectual with Rural Roots

Hailing from Worawora, an agricultural-focused district in Ghana’s Oti Region, Dabanyi completed his education at Kpandu Senior High School and attained 8As in the 2022 WASSCE examinations.

Dabanyi, aged 20, needed assistance to support his pricey medical education due to economic hardships and his family’s underprivileged background. He is a BSc Human Biology student at KNUST’s School of Medicine and Dentistry and received financial aid from the CEO.

Funding Asistance

He received a check of GH¢20,000 from Tang, in the company of his mother and three siblings, GNA reports.

Tang promised annual financial support of GH¢20,000 for Dabanyi’s entire six-year medical degree, dispersed each July; GH¢10,000 will be remitted to the university and the remaining GH¢10,000 will be given to Dabanyi for personal expenses.

Dabanyi’s aims to become a surgeon or neurosurgeon upon graduation and use his abilities to serve his community. His achievements and WASSCE scores were proudly showcased on LinkedIn by Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited.

Secondary School Colleagues Graduate as Doctors

The pair studied the same course at a Ghanaian high school, took the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) WASSCE, and progressed to the same university.

Twitter user @FestusLivingst1 revealed that both students attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
