Lalong arrives at the National Assembly for swearing-in as senator (video)

Former Minister of Labor and Employment, Simon Lalong, has arrived at the National Assembly ahead of his swearing-in as Senator representing Plateau South.

Lalong arrived at the National Assembly complex on Wednesday morning in the company of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

He will be sworn in as lawmaker representing Plateau South Senatorial District by Senate President Godswill Akpabio at the plenary on Wednesday.

The outgoing Minister's Special Adviser on Media, Makut Simon Macham, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday Lalong's decision to vacate the ministerial seat and take up the Senate seat.

He revealed that Lalong submitted his resignation letter to the President on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.

Macham said in the statement that Lalong reminded President Tinubu in his letter that the Court of Appeal, after exhaustive legal processes, declared him the duly elected Senator representing the Plateau South Senatorial District and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) had given him the Certificate of Return.
