NAF airstrikes kill 3 terrorist kingpins and 100 fighters in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force carried out airstrikes in Tagoshe on the Mandara Mountains in Borno State, killing over a hundred fighters and key terrorist leaders including Abu Asad, Ibrahim Nakeeb, Mustafa Munzir, Mujaheed Dimtu and others.

The terrorists' buildings and troop carriers were also destroyed by the bombardment that took place on November 24, 2023, a statement from the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) said.

According to him, the terrorists were seen in a remote area with three galvanized buildings surrounded by a number of trees.

Air Commodore Gabkwet said: “From the images it was clear that the terrorists were gathering at the location for a well-planned meeting or for the preparation of a major attack on their forces.

He continued: “More than 100 heavily armed terrorists were observed joking and moving randomly around the buildings where four troop carriers were also located.

“The aftermath of the airstrike showed that two of the three buildings, as well as the entire troop carriers, had been destroyed.

“There is also evidence that Abu Asad, a key figure in the Ali Ngulde group under Boko Haram, as well as other terrorists such as Ibrahim Nakeeb, Mujaheed Dimtu, Mustafa Munzir and several fighters were among the several terrorists eliminated in the airstrike.”

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, commended the Air Component Commander and his men, urging them to continue to work with the land component as they maintain momentum and “keep the terrorists on their toes.”

“We must continue to justify the trust that the Federal Government and our people have placed in us by ensuring that we do everything we can to make the lives of these terrorists and criminals unbearable until they surrender or are completely eliminated.”
