The spokesperson of the 2023 Labor Party (LP) Presidential Campaign Council, Yunusa Tanko, has said Nigerians are fed up with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and others from the “old stock”.
He stated this while reacting to the report that Atiku is planning to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Recall that the ex-vice president's campaign spokesman, Daniel Bwala, had confirmed on Tuesday evening that his director would contest the 2027 presidential election.
Reacting to Bwala's confirmation during an interview with The Punch on Wednesday, Tanko stressed that Nigerians are interested in people who have their best interests at heart.
Tanko, who confirmed that the LP flagbearer, Peter Obi, would contest the 2027 presidential election, said the former governor of Anambra State wanted to see Nigeria work for all.
He said: “Anyone who wants to show ambition and start building right now, those are the fundamental rights of that person. But we believe that we put people's interests first. And people are leaning towards us, especially the Nigerian youths. They are tired of the old stock

“So even if someone from the old tribe still wants to stand for election, we wish him all the best. But it could have been better for them to support a younger generation like Peter Obi in the form of uniting this country so that we can move forward together. That would have made more sense and appreciation for the Nigerian people at this point.”
