The Elsie Effah Kaufmann Second-Place Award was bestowed upon St John’s School for their participation in the 2023 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) competition.
The school’s representative team didn’t make it past the pre-semi-finals competition, where Achimota School, Opoku Ware School (OWASS), and the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC Legon) advanced to compete for the championship and grand prize.

Organizers, what formulates the award criteria? This award should have gone to OSEI TUTU SHS. In the quarter-finals, OPOKU WARE SCHOOL had 45 points, OSEI TUTU SHS had 43 points, while ST. JOHNS’ SCHOOL had 18 points. So why is ST.JOHNS’ considered the runner-up?
