The Labor Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has reacted to his brother working for the President Bola Tinubu-led government.
Datti said on Monday he is not concerned about the appointment of his brother Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as special adviser on political affairs to Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Datti said in an interview with Arise TV that his opposition is not against the government’s appointments, but his opposition is specifically against the president and vice president themselves.
The vice presidential candidate further stated that his older brother is an adult and therefore entitled to his own rights and life choices.
Datti said, “I am after the government, I am not after an appointment. I’m after the president and the vice president, I can’t come down and speak about any appointment. Hakeem is by far my older brother, so there’s no better way to say that he’s an adult or that he has his own rights or should live his own life. Our politics are completely hands-off. I know it’s his boss, not him.

“Taking my eldest brother to give him an appointment is the least of my worries, I don’t worry about any appointments. If he wants, he can take the entire Baba-Ahmeds and make them ministers. I do not mind.”
