On Thursday, Ifeanyi Ubah, the Senator for Anambra South, held a meeting with Abdullahi Ganduje, the All Progressives Congress National Chairman, at the party’s main office in Abuja.
Ubah’s formal declaration of defection stated that the move was primarily for the benefit of his constituents.
The Senator from Anambra made his appearance at the party’s headquarters approximately at 4.15 pm while Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, was adorned in a generously fitting Babaringa matched with a traditional red cap.
Ubah’s resignation announcement from his former party was publicly delivered in the Senate halls on Thursday.
Ubah, previously elected to serve an additional four-year tenure with the YPP, has clarified that his switch to the governing APC resulted from unresolvable conflicts within his previous party.

My reasons for backing the government’s efforts to address stay-at-home orders in the South East – Ifeanyi Ubah
Ubah previously announced his support for the Anambra State government’s struggle against stay-at-home commands and instability in the state, which is part of the southeast region.
In a discussion with Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on 13th July 2023, Ubah expressed that his efforts aim to boost the existing strategies of the Anambra State Government to resolve the insecurity issue in the state and the whole South-Eastern area.
He explained, “In Anambra State, I’ve stepped up to augment the governor’s or Anambra government’s initiatives. We are collaborating with the governor, the primary officer responsible for security.
“I noticed certain gaps; he controls the state equipment and security network in the state. I desired to supplement this by offering some support to vigilante groups that already exist in my constituency.

“We have partnered with a vigilante faction from a single local government to carry out a trial of this project, which the Governor graciously gave his approval and support during its launch.”
