Representatives commission NYSC to produce a brochure in Braille for visually impaired graduates

The National Youth Service Corps booklet will be provided in Braille to camps across the country, according to a statement from the House of Representatives.

It was stated that this is done to protect the rights of people with disabilities.

Speaking at the release of the simplified and translated version of the Disability Act 2018 on Monday in Abuja, the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on PWDs, Mr. Bashiru Dawodu, disclosed this.

Dawodu highlighted that “A gentleman translated the NYSC manual into Braille. These are the kind of great resources that we have in the community so that someone can do that. So we're going to encourage that and make sure the orientation camp has that.

“The House will stand up for you, we will ensure that your rights and dignity are protected to keep hope alive.”

He said the House was concerned about the non-use of sign language in plenary sittings, but Speaker Tajudeen Abbas granted their request, making it the first in Nigeria.
