Security forces successfully rescued 18 individuals who had been taken hostage in the Kanya, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, on Wednesday.
On Friday in Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji Ahmed Idris, the Media Representative to Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, reported that the Local Government Council Chair, Alhaji Hussani Aliyu-Bena, disclosed the safe recovery of the hostages on Thursday.
According to Aliyu-Bena, the victims were set free near Karen Bena around 5:30 p.m., while their abductors were making their way into Zamfara.
The spokesperson emphasized the significant efforts taken by the Dr. Idris-led administration to provide security to the citizens and properties of Kebbi.
Idris shared that the council chairman had expressed gratitude towards the state administration for swiftly providing financial resources to the security outfits, leading to their victory.
He pointed out that the state government’s financial aid will undoubtedly invigorate the enthusiasm of security officers ensuring the safety of the state’s residents and their properties.
Many locals have regained their courage and have started to return to their homes and restart their farming endeavors.
The army and the Nigerian Air Force’s active operations in the past few days have succeeded in eliminating a significant number of threat agents in the vicinity, informed Aliyu-Bena in Idris’ statement.
