The Senate has disclosed its intention to scrutinize the acquisition of the N5 billion presidential yacht and the surrounding conditions.
The commitment was made by the Senate Committee on Navy, chaired by the Senator of Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel.
Daniel stated that in light of the turmoil concerning the presidential yacht, the committee has chosen to delve into the matters related to the contentious yacht within seven days.
On Wednesday, the senator’s media representative, Steve Oliyide, conveyed this development in a public statement.
According to Daniel, “The rumored takeover of the yacht has been on the public radar ever since it was initially reported in the press.
“Numerous Nigerians have voiced their worries and critique, with a substantial number expressing astonishment on how such an opulent item could be included in the Supplementary Budget.
“Considering the various and contradictory reports emerging in the press regarding the yacht’s acquisition, we’ve recognized the necessity for an exhaustive examination.”
The chairman of the committee also stated, “The primary aim is to unveil the truth, alleviate uncertainties, and provide the public with a precise and comprehensive knowledge of the situation.”
