The Progressives Yoruba Youth Congress (PYYC) has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the festering political crisis in Rivers State.
The group made the call on Sunday while addressing reporters.
The chairman of the group, Akintunde Adedeji, urged Tinubu to openly express his position on the crisis in Rivers State by directing that all government institutions must act according to the law.
Adedeji then urged the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to seek appropriate legal representation.
The group warned that the country would hold them responsible if any kind of crisis emerged as a result of their defection.
“We call on the 27 former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to seek proper legal guidance on the choices available to them in the future as it appears that they are not beneficiaries of sound legal advice based on their past and ongoing actions.
We say this because the rest of Nigeria will hold them individually and collectively accountable, with Wike as their boss, for any breach of peace in Nigeria resulting from their misadventure,” Adedeji said.
The group added that the call for Tinubu's intervention was necessary to nip in the bud the insinuation that a Yoruba president is among those who would destroy Rivers State.
