The Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration has directed all primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state to observe a mandatory holiday from Friday, November 10 to Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Jones noted in a statement released Tuesday that the holiday was tied to the Nov. 11 gubernatorial election.
He said schools will resume regular academic activities on Wednesday, November 15.
The Commissioner further wished all a peaceful election and assured the public of the Government’s commitment to creating a safe and conducive environment for the conduct of free, fair and credible elections.

In other news, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State of denying his gubernatorial candidate, Dino Melaye, the opportunity to hold the grand finale of his campaign at the Lokoja Stadium.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, the National Spokesman of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, on Tuesday, said the governor has rejected the party’s request to use the stadium for the final of the governorship campaign.

Ologunagba said the likelihood of violence in the state should not be linked to the opposition PDP because the party is not responsible for security in the state.
