Tinubu forwards names of Supreme Court judges to the Senate for screening

President Bola Tinubu has forwarded the names of eleven judges of the Supreme Court of Nigeria to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio made this known while reading out a letter sent to the Senate on the floor of the Red Chamber on Wednesday.

Recall that the National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended to the President the appointment of eleven individuals as Supreme Court Justices.

The NJC also recommended the appointment of one judge to the Court of Appeal, six heads of courts and 26 other judicial officers.

All recommended nominees to the Supreme Court would be sworn in upon approval of their recommendation by President Tinubu and subsequent confirmation of their nomination by the Senate.

The various recommended heads of courts would also be sworn in upon approval of their appointment by their various state governors and subsequent confirmation thereof by their respective State Houses of Representatives.

The recommendations of the Supreme Court judges approved by the NJC are as follows:
