President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a strategy to distribute N8,000 each month to 12 million households in Nigeria for a span of half a year, intending to alleviate the struggles that have emerged as a result of subsidy removal.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, revealed this proposal during the plenary gathering held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.
Tinubu expressed that the assistance is designed to aid the financially weak and susceptible Nigerians in affording their necessities.
The letter was meant to seek approval for further capital to expand the national social safety net program from the National Assembly.
Tinubu inferred that this strategy would influence about 60 million people. To maintain process transparency, he ascertained that digital transactions would be carried out straight into the receivers’ accounts.
