The newly constituted Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State Chapter, has revealed how it secured the victory of the ruling party in the 2023 presidential election.
The Chairman of the Interim Committee, Tony Okocha, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu needed the maneuverability and flexibility of the armed forces to win the election.
Okocha made the revelation on Friday during the inauguration of his committee at the party headquarters in Abuja.
He also addressed speculations that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike may dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling party, boldly announcing that the door is wide open for him and Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State. , among other things.
According to Okocha, “It is a bit painful that as members of the political party in a particular state as important as Rivers, we have not learned our lessons. We cannot boast that we have not been able to produce even one councilor in the 119 wards in Rivers State.
“The last election will blow your imagination that a party that should normally be robust has been lost in the 32 seats of the House of Representatives in Rivers State. We only got one seat out of thirteen in the House of Representatives. We lost the three senatorial districts. We lost miserably in the governorship elections.
“We only thank God that with the maneuverability and adaptability of us and some other forces, we were able to win the presidential election in Rivers State. I wanted to remind the Chairman when he said that Rivers State APC was the only state that won the South-South elections. I have to remind him that it was in both the South-South and the South-East.
“Of the eleven states, our presidential candidate won only Rivers. We are going to continue that.”
