Omowunmi Aloba, wife of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has opened up about the strained relationship with her father-in-law.
Testifying before the Lagos State Inquest on Tuesday, Omowunmi revealed that her relationship with her father-in-law, Oladimeji Aloba, deteriorated after the birth of her son Liam.
She told the coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, that Mohbad’s father became angry with her because Mohbad refused to conduct Liam’s naming ceremony in Ikorodu.
According to Omawunmi, Mohbad’s father believed she was driving a wedge between him and Mohbad, which soured their relationship.
She said: ‘I had a very good relationship with my father-in-law before the birth of my son Liam. In fact, I often invited him to our home.
“But because Mohbad was angry with him for some of the things he did and his refusal to conduct our son’s naming ceremony in Ikorodu, he became angry with me because he thought I was the one behind all this.

“So he became my enemy and stopped talking to me like before.”
