An update on the health condition of well-known Nollywood actor, John Okafor, also popular as Mr. Ibu, has been shared by his family, causing a buzz online.
In a video taken during his 62nd birthday celebrations at a hospital in October, it was evident that one of the legs of Mr. Ibu had suffered a severe injury.
Internet personality, VeryDarkMan, in an Instagram post on Monday, November 6, revealed that Mr. Ibu’s leg had been amputated.
In a subsequent public address on his health status, Mr. Ibu’s family substantiated the amputation of one of his legs as an interim measure to stabilize his condition.
They emphasized that the experienced actor is in dire need of all possible assistance, given the critical state of his other leg.
The family shared that Mr. Ibu has been through seven successful surgeries. However, in an effort to safeguard his life and enhance recovery prospects, the decision to amputate one leg was taken.
Gratitude for the support they’ve received in these challenging times was extended by the family, acknowledging the crucial role of the assistance.
In a statement released by Mr Ibu’s family, they wrote:
“A good afternoon to all Nigerians. We wish to express our deep gratitude to every person who has lent a helping hand. Expressing our gratitude can’t do justice to how truly grateful we are, and we believe only divine blessings can adequately reward your generosity. As of 1pm today, our father has successfully undergone seven operations. However, to preserve his life and boost his recovery odds, we had to agree to the amputation of one of his legs. Accepting this new reality for our father’s sake has been tough for all of us. However, we are still humbly asking for support from all the good-hearted Nigerians since our Dad’s condition is still fragile. He needs all the support he can get.
We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone. The generosity shown to the Okafor family is deeply appreciated, and we do not take it lightly. Once our father’s health stabilizes, he will personally express his gratitude to all those who stood by him during this trying period. Thank you again!”
