PDP alleges that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has barred gubernatorial applicant Dino Melaye from using the Lokoja Stadium for the apex of his campaign
In a press briefing in Abuja, PDP’s National Spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, on Tuesday asserted that the governor had turned down their proposal to use the stadium for the closing ceremony of their governorship campaign.
Ologunagba asserted that any potential violence in the state should not be attributed to opposition party PDP as they do not control the state’s security.
The spokesman for PDP suggested that potential unrest could have been stirred up by the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), whilst also hinting towards the Kogi State Governor’s history of aggressive behaviour.
He stated: “We don’t subscribe to violent practices. Consult the All Progressives Congress for such matters.”
“I previously addressed the situation with the assistant candidate of APC in Bayelsa State suggesting to send individuals into the ocean. This is a clear violation of electoral law.
“We don’t utilise force; we focus on the merits of the issues. Observe the situation now; our concluding campaign in Kogi State was scheduled for Thursday, but Governor Yahaya Bello adamantly denied the use of Lokoja Stadium. Isn’t that an act of aggression? They plainly blocked us.”

Ologunagba disclosed that Melaye has since relayed that his conclusive campaign will proceed at an alternative venue this upcoming Thursday.
